Resistance is not about surviving through fascism and capitalism, resistance is how we resist fascism and capitalism. Joy is an act of resistance, only when also resisting. Rest is an act of resistance, not when resting from upholding the status quo, but when resisting.
Acts of resistance you can take today
It is a process to learn how to change aspects of your life in resistance of capitalism, fascism, patriarchy, etc. It should and will be challenging. You won’t be perfect, and you don’t have to do it all at once. Start with one thing at a time. For example, it wasn’t difficult to boycott SodaStream… I’ve never had one and I don’t love fizzy water. Boycotting Starbucks was more challenging inconvenient. And I’m still working on boycotting Google.
Check out the No Thanks app, it scans barcodes and tells you if products are from Israel.
Print one of these zines about specific families in the Gaza strip that need help, and donate or distribute in your community. Print one of these informational zines, read it, and give it to a friend.
Keep consistently calling and emailing your representatives to keep this issue at the forefront.
Join a campaign to encourage your city/state/school to divest from Israel.
A story of resistance
Mohammed Aradeh plotted the infamous prison escape in 2021, when he and five other detainees dug out of one of Israel’s most secure prisons using spoons and other kitchen implements. They remained at large for days before being caught.
He was released in a hostage exchange recently and welcomed in Ramallah as his fellow Palestinians chanted, “The freedom tunnel!”
Urgent Needs
Samar has taken a number of other young and single parents and children under her wing. All donations to her campaign benefit more than a dozen people without the means to make campaigns of their own. They are in desperate need of food and water.
Amina is an elderly woman tasked with caring for her son, sick with kidney disease, and her 3 year old grandson. She is in desperate need of food and medications.
